Second Reconstruction Expo Opens
The second edition of an international exhibition dedicated to rebuilding Syria opens on 14 September 2026 at the exhibition grounds in Damascus and runs for three days. The event gathers government officials, investors and private companies working across the energy, industry, construction and real estate sectors.
Organizers describe the gathering as a marketplace for reconstruction deals rather than a showcase, with business-to-business meetings, specialized seminars and policy dialogue sessions scheduled across the program. The stated goal is to turn preliminary contacts into concrete agreements and projects.
Record Company Turnout
A total of 356 local, Arab and international companies from 27 countries are taking part, representing more than 1,700 commercial agencies — a figure organizers put at 145 percent above the previous edition.
The sharp increase points to widening commercial interest in Syria's rebuilding market at a time when the country is working to draw foreign capital into large infrastructure and housing programs.
Regional Delegations Attend
Official bodies from several neighboring economies are among the exhibitors. They include Saudi Arabia's export development authority, Turkey's ministry responsible for urban planning and its state housing authority, a major Turkish industrialists' association, and Jordan's export promotion house.
Their attendance reflects deepening engagement by Gulf and regional governments in supplying and financing Syria's reconstruction effort.
State Backing and Sectors
The exhibition is supported by several government departments, including the ministries responsible for economy and industry, tourism, and local administration, alongside the national investment authority and the federation of chambers of commerce. Joint business councils linking Syria with partner countries are also involved.
Exhibits span infrastructure and contracting, engineering consultancy, building materials, heavy machinery and finishing works, grouped under the four headline sectors of energy, industry, construction and real estate development.
Signal for Recovery
For an economy emerging from years of isolation, a large and well-attended reconstruction fair is a visible marker of re-engagement with regional and international markets. The event's lasting economic weight will depend on how many of the scheduled meetings produce firm contracts in the months that follow.
