Banking at the Post Office

Holders of Commercial Bank of Syria cards can now withdraw and deposit cash at post offices across the country, under a partnership announced on 21 October 2026. The arrangement makes the bank's withdrawal and deposit services available through 352 post offices in every Syrian governorate.

The postal corporation said the service is meant to put basic banking within easy reach of residents, drawing on counters that already operate in towns and districts nationwide.

A Network Across the Country

The agreement leans on the postal service's geographic spread, a network of 352 branches reaching all provinces. Under the new terms, Commercial Bank services sit inside that network, with the two sides coordinating to use offices already present in each area.

Officials framed the goal as ensuring banking services reach everyone easily, using the post's wide footprint in the areas where the service is offered.

Mail Links Restored

The banking tie-up follows a broader revival of postal operations. Earlier in October 2026, the corporation resumed sending parcels from Syria to countries worldwide through the Universal Postal Union (UPU), reactivating outbound international mail after a halt that lasted years.

That step followed a first phase, announced in June 2026 and effective 1 July 2026, which restored inbound international parcels through the postal exchange office at Damascus International Airport.

Reconnecting With Abroad

The corporation's director general, Imad al-Din Hamad, said the resumption ends a long period in which the post played no part in linking Syria to the world, returning it to its role as an official channel for citizens and economic sectors, operating to international standards and at competitive prices.

Branches and centers in the governorates, together with the international exchange center at Damascus International Airport, are ready to handle outgoing and incoming shipments, officials said.
