New Identity, New Plan
Syria's national airline launched a new visual identity on 5 October 2026 alongside an expansion plan aimed at reconnecting the country to international air travel. Officials set out targets for both the fleet and the route network to be reached by the end of 2026.
The head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Omar Al-Hasri, and the chief executive of the state aviation holding company, Anwar Akkad, presented the plan as part of an effort to open the sector to investment and partnerships. The rebranding was timed to coincide with the wider push rather than presented on its own.
Doubling the Fleet
The carrier aims to grow its fleet from six aircraft to 12 by the end of 2026, with the plan built around acquiring new Airbus A320 jets.
Doubling the number of planes is intended to support the additional routes and higher passenger volumes envisioned under the plan. A larger, newer fleet would also give the airline more room to add frequencies on existing routes.
Route Network Grows
The airline began the year serving nine destinations and has since added Amsterdam, Vienna, Copenhagen, and Moscow. The target is to reach 25 destinations by the end of 2026.
The additions reopen direct links between the country and several European and other foreign cities, a change felt directly by travelers and members of the diaspora who have long relied on indirect connections. Nearly tripling the destination count would mark a substantial widening of the network within a single year.
Digital Overhaul
A new booking system is scheduled for deployment in November 2026, part of a push to develop payment systems, electronic services, and mobile applications while reducing paper-based transactions.
The stated aim is to modernize passenger services as the airline widens its reach beyond the country's borders. Streamlined booking and payment tools are presented as a complement to the fleet and route expansion rather than a separate initiative.
