Nationwide Payment Window
Syria's postal authority announced, together with the state body responsible for insurance and pensions, that retiree payments will run from Sunday, 8 November 2026, through Wednesday, 25 November 2026. The money will be disbursed at post office branches in every governorate throughout that period.
The arrangement sets a fixed collection window rather than a single payout day, giving recipients more than two weeks to receive their entitlements at their nearest branch.
Suspended Pensions Restored
A decision by the General Secretariat of the Syrian Presidency orders the resumption of pensions for civilians whose payments had been stopped for security reasons. The same decision provides for payment of the arrears that built up while those pensions were frozen.
The measure applies to people whose entitlements were halted before 8 December 2024. For that group, it restores both a regular income stream and the back payments owed for the months the pensions went unpaid.
Military Retirees Included
The step builds on procedures that began in March 2026, when the finance ministry started resuming pensions for retired personnel of the defense and interior ministries. Those procedures also reached civilians whose pensions had been suspended for security reasons under the former government.
Taken together, the earlier military track and the latest civilian decision widen the pool of retirees being returned to the payment rolls across both the service and civilian categories.
Collection and Figures
Payments are to be collected in person at post office branches nationwide within the announced dates, coordinated between the postal authority and the pensions establishment. No amounts were disclosed for individual payments, and no total was given for the number of retirees covered.
By combining a defined payment window with the restoration of previously suspended entitlements, the plan routes pension funds to civilian and military retirees through the national post network.
