New Fuel Bulletin Takes Effect
Syria raised the prices of gasoline and diesel under a new pricing bulletin that took effect at midnight on Friday, 24 July 2026. A liter of octane-95 gasoline was set at 149 new Syrian pounds (SYP), octane-90 gasoline at 145 SYP, and diesel at 121 SYP.
The same bulletin priced a household gas cylinder at 1,470 SYP and industrial gas at 2,350 SYP, extending a pattern of near-continuous adjustment in the domestic fuel market.
Sharper Rise Since Late June
Measured against the bulletin of 30 June 2026, the increases are pronounced over less than a month. Octane-90 gasoline climbed from 125 to 145 SYP, octane-95 from 130 to 149 SYP, and diesel from 107 to 121 SYP.
Compared with the more recent bulletin of 16 July 2026, octane-90 rose from 140 to 145 SYP and diesel edged up from 120 to 121 SYP, while octane-95 held steady at 149 SYP.
Cooking Gas Eases Slightly
Gas prices moved in the opposite direction. The household cylinder slipped from 1,500 to 1,470 SYP against the 16 July bulletin, and industrial gas fell from 2,400 to 2,350 SYP.
The divergence left motorists and diesel users facing higher costs even as gas for cooking and industry became marginally cheaper.
Pressure on Daily Costs
Fuel prices feed directly into transport, food distribution, and manufacturing, so repeated increases weigh on household budgets across the country. The bulletin marks the latest upward revision for gasoline and diesel in a matter of weeks.
Diesel and the New Pound
The figures are quoted in new Syrian pounds, the denomination used across the official price bulletins. Under the new schedule a liter of octane-95 gasoline stood at 149 pounds and diesel at 121 pounds.
Diesel recorded one of the larger cumulative moves, rising from 107 pounds at the end of June 2026 to 121 pounds, a gain of 14 pounds a liter in under a month.
