Syria Opens Investment Authority Branch in Homs to Speed Up Projects

The Syrian Investment Authority's director general issued a decision on 22 August 2026 to open a branch in Homs, aiming to bring services closer to investors and speed the move of projects from study to implementation.

A New Branch in Homs

The director general of the Syrian Investment Authority issued a decision on Saturday, 22 August 2026, to establish a branch of the body in Homs Governorate. The step is intended to strengthen the authority's institutional presence across the provinces and to bring its services physically closer to investors and to the investment projects it oversees.

Building on Existing Work

The decision formalizes a presence the authority has already maintained in Homs, elevating the work of its local team to the level of a full branch tied to the central office. Officials said the branch would operate within the authority's wider system rather than as a standalone office, giving it a direct line to headquarters and to the public bodies involved in reviewing projects.

What the Branch Will Do

The branch is tasked with strengthening communication with investors and following investment projects and opportunities within the governorate. It is also charged with coordinating between the central office and the relevant public agencies.

The stated goal is to accelerate the handling of investment files and to support the transition of projects from the study phase through to actual implementation.

More Provinces to Follow

The authority signaled that the coming period would bring additional branches in a number of governorates. These would be opened according to the scale of economic activity, the available opportunities, and the specific needs of each province, in what officials described as an effort to reach investors more directly and to follow projects on the ground.

Investment Climate Push

The authority framed the move as part of a broader effort to develop its institutional infrastructure and to build the confidence of investors and business owners in the country's business environment. It said the aim was to offer an attractive and stimulating climate for investment and to raise the competitiveness of Syria's business landscape.
