Raqqa Industrial Zone Deal Signed
Raqqa governorate and the Syrian Investment Authority signed a contract on 3 September 2026 to establish a dedicated craft and industrial zone in the province of Raqqa. The agreement was concluded at the "Syrian Industry" pavilion during the 63rd session of the Damascus International Fair.
The signing brings together local authorities and two foreign partners around a single site intended to house the province's manufacturing and craft activity.
The Contracting Parties
The two partners are the Turkish firms Kayan Commercial Holding Group and a company identified as MYB. They will work alongside the governorate and the investment authority to build and organize the new zone.
The project is presented as an integrated environment for industry, meant to regulate industrial and professional activity within a modern, fully serviced area and to open wider space for investors.
Moving Workshops Out of the City
The head of the General Union of Craftsmen, Iyad Najjar, said the contract's importance lies in organizing the work of craftsmen and industrialists in the city of Raqqa. The plan calls for relocating their workshops and small factories from within the city to the new zone.
He said the move would help reduce the noise and the urban and environmental pollution produced by factories and craft workshops operating inside residential Raqqa.
Order and Investment
The contract sets out two linked objectives: bringing the city's scattered craft and industrial work under a single organized framework, and opening wider space for investors in an integrated industrial environment.
Grouping workshops and small factories in one serviced location is meant to structure activity now spread through Raqqa, while the new zone is presented as a base capable of drawing further investment into the province's industrial sector.

The agreement was concluded at the 63rd session of the Damascus International Fair, where the "Syrian Industry" pavilion hosted the ceremony.
