Three Carriers Land in One Day
Aleppo International Airport received flights from three foreign airlines on Saturday, 1 August 2026, marking the first arrivals by each of the carriers at the northern Syrian hub. The airport handled the three international flights within a single day.
The arrivals opened regular scheduled service linking Aleppo with cities in Turkey, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, according to the country's civil aviation authority.
Routes From Three Countries
The Turkish carrier SunExpress arrived from Antalya, the German company LEAV Aviation flew in from Düsseldorf, and the Saudi airline flynas landed from Riyadh. Each flight signaled the start of a scheduled route between Aleppo and its departure city.
The routes place Aleppo on direct connections to a Turkish city, a western German city, and the Saudi capital, with a different carrier operating each one. The combination of Turkish, European, and Gulf carriers on the same day widened the range of destinations directly connected to the airport.
Aviation Sector Recovery
The head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport, Omar al-Hasri, said the arrivals reflected an acceleration in the recovery of Syrian civil aviation and the return of the airport to its role as a regional transport center. He noted that the three flights arrived on a single day.
He characterized the concentration of three international flights in one day as more than the launch of new routes, describing it as a sign of growing confidence among international carriers in the sector.
Wider Reconnection Effort
Al-Hasri said the authority plans to attract further airlines, expand its network of destinations, and strengthen the airport's position as a principal gateway linking Syria to the wider world. He framed the day's flights as the beginning of a longer process rather than an isolated event.
The arrivals form part of a broader effort to restore the country's links to regional and international air transport networks.
