Agricultural Bank Starts Paying Wheat Farmers, Capped at 100 Million Pounds

The Agricultural Bank has begun disbursing wheat payments to farmers, with a first payment capped at 100 million pounds per grower and the balance paid over three to four monthly installments. This week's batch covers crops delivered between June 1 and 10, 2026.

Payments Begin in Daraa

The Agricultural Bank's branch in Izra, in the eastern countryside of Daraa governorate, has begun disbursing payments to farmers for wheat delivered to the Izra grain collection center and the seed propagation branch. The distribution started on 26 July 2026.

The branch is settling amounts owed to growers who brought in their crop during the current marketing season, drawing on funds transferred to it for that purpose.

How Recipients Are Ranked

Processing is being handled through electronic lists of eligible recipients. The order in which farmers are paid is set by the date each grower delivered their crop and by the availability of the transferred funds.

Under that sequence, the earliest deliveries are settled first, and the pace of disbursement depends on the transfers reaching the branch.

Cap and Installments

Each farmer receives a maximum of 100 million Syrian pounds (SYP) in the first payment, with any remaining balance settled in three to four equal monthly installments. Priority is set according to delivery dates and the funds moved to the branch.

The batch being paid this week covers growers who delivered their wheat between 1 and 10 June 2026.

Rollout Across Provinces

Agricultural Bank branches began releasing wheat payments in the middle of July 2026, after completing financial procedures and receiving the necessary fund transfers from the central branch. Collection and marketing of the crop are continuing in parallel in several provinces.

The Izra branch director, Majed Muhammad al-Hariri, said payment operations at the center were proceeding smoothly.

Cash for Grain Growers

The disbursement delivers cash to grain farmers while the crop is still being collected and marketed, linking each payout to the wheat a grower has already handed over.

The staged installment structure spreads the remaining balance over several months, tying the timing of full settlement to the funds that reach each branch.
